Mavericks on the Move: Athletes Named to UWG Team Canada 2026
On September 13, two talented athletes from the BHPE Mavericks Ball Hockey program Lincoln Cary, a standout U11 goalie, and Laken Winsor, a skilled U13 forward/defense, set out on an incredible journey to Edmonton, Alberta. Their goal was to earn a place on UWG Team Canada and represent their country at the United World Games (UWG) in Austria, taking place June 18–21, 2026.
After showcasing their skill and determination at the national tryout camps, both athletes have officially earned their place on UWG Team Canada roster and will represent Canada on the international stage next summer in Klagenfurt, Austria.

Being named to UWG Team Canada is an incredible honor and a reflection of the dedication, discipline, and passion for the game. The national tryout process focused on skill development, position-specific drills, and coach feedback designed to assess readiness for international play.
From the first whistle to the final shift, these young Mavericks demonstrated the discipline, focus, and sportsmanship that define our program. Moreover, they embodied the Mavericks’ core values of resilience, growth, and teamwork, showing what it means to compete with pride and purpose.
